DetailsÜber means "ultra" in German. These kits are aptly named; they're über fun, über challenging, and über educational. The interlocking pieces not only look different, they act different: you can build models that move, attach them to other building sets, and incorporate found objects into your structures (straws, Popsicle® sticks, etc.).
You can make everything from skyscrapers to bridges to boats that float with the 450-piece Überstix Starter Set. The Überpult Set is most like a fun science project: use 90 of the 181 pieces to build a working catapult, and the rest of the pieces to upgrade and improve it through a series of experiments (with well-documented instructions).
Endlessly imaginative for ages 8 and up.
