When you're a child, it seems all you ever want to do is grow up, when you reach adulthood all you ever want to do is be a child again, and an irony not lost on anyone. Think about when you were a child. Try to remember the personal effects that your parents had that you longed for, for the girls maybe the make up and the high heels, the handbags and perhaps the bracelets? For the boys, maybe a shirt and tie, maybe a briefcase and definitely a wallet; but also a watch. The one thing that seemed to govern your days back then was meal times and you were never sure how your parents knew the exact moment that your tummy started to rumble, but they always did.
Toy watches are great presents for young children as they are an aide in their development. Your child's ability to tell the time and come in from playing at a specified time is very important, not only for discipline reasons but also for safety and their future development and appreciation of the importance of time.
Some children's watches, despite being simplified, are fully functional and can be worn just like an adult wrist watch. The major differences are that they are designed to appeal to children and so may have a cartoon character on the watch face and its arm and leg as the hands. There are two ways that the time is commonly shown, one is by the use of the clock face and hands that point to the correct time as the second hand ticks by, and the other is the digital method, whereby the owner will read the time as digits from left to right. In particular the digital watches prove to be extremely popular with boys, as they often have a number of features including a stop watch.
With that said it may surprise you to know that toy watches are actually available for adults too. They are adult watches that have been designed by to appear like a child's watch, there is a huge range from which to choose with the predominant feature being the vast array of colours and colour combinations available to the customer. Not only this, but the design on the watch face can be anything from a plain simple look to a skull and cross bones or flag design. This is where the similarity ends between these toy watches and those for children, these are branded products and as such the price reflects this. This is not necessarily a negative aspect of the watch at all; in fact it marks them out as a fashionable addition to anyone's wrist.
